Continental Bakeries acquires The Rice Cake Factory, Belgium

Continental Bakeries has reached agreement with the shareholders of The Rice Cake Factory on the acquisition of The Rice Cake Factory s.a.

The Rice Cake Factory is established in Belgium and has specialised in the production of rice cakes. The Rice Cake Factory has some 70 employees and sales of around € 11.5 million. Its plant and office are in Ghislenghien, south-west of Brussels.

Continental Bakeries intends to invest further in the plant and to transfer the production of its burned-down plant in Oostmalle to it. The aim will be to re-deploy as many staff as possible from Oostmalle in the new plant. This acquisition strengthens Continental Bakeries’ position as the no. 1 in rice cakes.

Continental Bakeries is a leading player in the European private label biscuit market with top three positions in the markets in which it operates. Continental Bakeries specialises in the development, production and distribution of private label biscuits, bread substitutes and toast and has eleven plants in various locations throughout Europe. The sales of the group total € 240 million.
